Siham Awada Jaafar's Bio.

Vice President of David Communications, Siham Awada Jaafar is a well respected and established practitioner in both community and media relations. Her passion for community relations coupled with her natural communication skills has made her a skillful and effective communicator.

Over the years, Ms. Jaafar has created and promoted several communications projects in the areas of community and public affairs and mass media--with a multi-cultural expertise. As a community activist, Ms. Jaafar has developed a reputation for dedication and leadership. As a moderator and mistress of ceremonies for numerous community events, Ms. Jaafar is known for her charm and warmth as a dynamic personality.

She was a managing partner with A&A Consulting, a public relations and marketing firm, where she handled such accounts as the Lebanese American Heritage Club and the American Arab Chamber of Commerce-Michigan. She organized events with such dignitaries as Jacques Nassar, former CEO of Ford Motor Company , Stephen Yokich, the late president of the United Auto Workers, and Nasser Saidi, the Minister of Economy and Trade for Lebanon.

Utilizing her communications expertise, Ms. Jaafar hosted and co-produced "Arab Talk", a program sponsored by the Arab Community Center for Economic and Social Services (ACCESS). The program served as a forum for issues pertinent to the Arab American community.

She is a founding member of Friends United, a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of mutual respect and tolerance. She was the executive secretary of the Congress of Arab American Organizations (CAAO), an umbrella group representing over 40 Arab American organizations, where she coordinated and hosted several events relating to Arab American relations in the greater Detroit area.

She is an advisory board member of the American Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (Detroit region) and founding member of the BRIDGES committee, a liaison between various government agencies, the U.S. Attorney's Office and the Arab American community. In those capacities, she and has dealt with some of the pressing issues created in wake of the 9-11 catastrophe.

Ms. Jaafar was an active participant and advisory board member for the recent Detroit Arab American Study (DAAS), a benchmark study which surveyed Arab Americans and non-Arabs from southeastern Michigan regarding attitudes and opinions towards government and one another. The study was funded by a grant acquired through the Russell Sage Foundation in New York and was sponsored by the University of Michigan.

She is also a member of ACCESS, Arab American Women Advocating for Resources and Education (AWARE) and the National Congress of Arab American Organizations in Washington, D.C.

Ms. Jaafar received from the Detroit Chapter of the American Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC), the Hala Maksoud Activism Award at their annual banquet in 2004.

She completed post-graduate work at Central Michigan University and is a graduate of Wayne State University with a bachelor's degree in public relations and communications.

She and her husband, Hassane Jaafar, have two children, Gina and Alex.
